My Story
My name is Carolyn Burjoski, and I was a teacher with the Waterloo Region District School Board for more than 20 years. On January 17, 2022 I was registered as a delegation to the Board of Trustees meeting and allotted 10 minutes to speak. During my presentation, I read excerpts from two children’s books available in our elementary (K-6) school libraries and I criticized the age appropriateness of the sexual content. Less than 4 minutes into my presentation, the Board Chair claimed that I had violated the Human Rights Code and he ejected me from the meeting. Read more…
